Trained in speech and drama Lynn is a prominent
member of the local theater scene. Lynn has for many years been
a principal player with Downfield Musical Society and Act IV.
In recent years Lynn has turned her attention to directing, studying
at Warwick University Summerschool and at Loughbrorough University
Summerschool. She has directed many shows for the musical theatre,
including the acclaimed productions of "Jesus Christ Superstar",
"Oliver" and Jekyll and Hyde" for Downfield Musical
Society as well as the award winning musical "Honk"
for Thomson Leng Youth Musical Theatre.
Lynn has devised and delivered acting workshops
for NODA Scotland and Dundee City Council, Education Dept [Expressive
Arts]. And is principal teacher of Dramadrome, School of Drama
Dundee.
Lynn says,
" It's a joy to experience upper primary
school children chanting stories and teaming up to construct
plays; to see secondary third and fourth year pupils taking time
ships back to biblical times; to watch young actors improvising
original movement to Edgar Allan Poe's "Decent Into The
Maelstrom". The beauty of acting and improvisation is that
in the process of creating scenes players do so in the spirit
of teamwork. The process empowers children and
young people to free their bodies and imagination
and to gain confidence while helping one
another".
